Physical Therapy

Physical therapy improves the areas of gross motor development, strength, endurance, and mobility needed for safety and independence. Gross motor skills (i.e. ball skills) are the foundation of gross motor development. Physical therapy assists children in reaching their highest level of functional mobility and safety. Physical therapists encourage proper body mechanics and teach children to move around their world safely and efficiently.

Physical Therapy within the educational setting may address the following:

• Muscle strength and range of motion
• Coordination and motor planning
• Gross Motor Skill development
• Ball Skills
• Balance and postural control
• Endurance
• Pre-gait and gait training
• Mobility and locomotion
• Seating and positioning
